Leading 25-24 going into the fourth quarter, the Eaglettes (6-8) outscored their opponent 17-10 in the final stanza to secure the victory.
"We did a much better job of handling the ball there at the end of the game and the last three minutes of the game for us was either a layup or a free throw," Central coach Kevin Thomas said. "That's what you want at the end of the game and we did a good job."
Sophomore Sara Beth Martin cashed in on 5-of-6 free throws in the fourth quarter for Shelbyville.
The Eaglettes held a 24-13 edge in rebounds.
Jameka Braden led the Eaglettes with 13 points followed by Bree Horner with 10.
Cocke County got 12 points from Mika Wester and 10 from Allison Ball.
"Playing up here in this tournament is a very good experience for our young team," Thomas said. "We're facing teams we normally don't play and it's just a great opportunity for the girls to hand out together and do a lot of things together as a team."
The Eaglettes faced West Greene today at noon CST.
