MTBN to offer school scholoraship

Wednesday, January 9, 2013

Middle Tennesee Business Network (MTBN) of Bedford County will be awarding a $500 scholarship at the end of the 2012 academic year to one Bedford County High School senior who meets requirements.

Members of the MTBN board recently met with Janice Womble and Cheryl Harris, both with the school system, and the Bedford County Board of Education last October to discuss the details of the scholarship.

"We are excited to add Middle Tennessee Business Network of Bedford County as one of our financial supporters of Bedford County students with their post-secondary education," said Womble, supervisor of secondary education. "By providing this scholarship, MTBN will be supporting our students' college and career goals as well as fostering our local community by supporting our future business leaders."

Womble will be providing information and applications to all school principals this month. The application deadline is March 15 and will require students to take part in an interview.

MTBN is a network of entrepreneurs and business managers who meet each Thursday from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Shelbyville-Bedford County Chamber of Commerce. The concept of MTBN is to encourage and nurture business interchange, and community business awareness and growth.

Yearly membership dues are $50 and any business owner or manager is welcome to visit.

MTBN can be found on Facebook.
