Murfreesboro Medical Clinic's new building is nearing completion. The new facility, at 1272 Garrison Drive in the Murfreesboro Gateway area, will open Feb. 11, 2013.
The 155,000 square feet addition will join the existing facility, which opened in 2008.
Joseph A. Peay, CEO of Murfreesboro Medical Clinic and SurgiCenter states, "The new and expanded facility will provide a better working environment for MMC's physicians, but more importantly, it will allow those physicians to better serve the needs of their patients and our growing community in a new, state-of-the-art facility."
Approximately 540 staff members, including 70 doctors, make up MMC, and they hope their new location will help them serve patients more efficiently and with new equipment.
The physician-owned multi-specialty group sees over 30,000 patients per month, averages 150 new patients per week, and performs an average of 680 surgical procedures per month.
MMC's official expansion started in 2007, when construction began on the first phase of the building. When it opened in 2008, it included an expanded SurgiCenter of Murfreesboro, an Infusion Center, Comprehensive Breast Center, Radiology and Laboratory Services as well as the Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, and Otolaryngology (ENT) Departments and several other health care providers.
Shortly thereafter, MMC also moved its Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department as well as added three new specialty departments with physicians specializing in Allergy/Immunology, Orthopaedics/Sports Medicine, and Physical Medicine/Pain Management.
The new addition allows all of the remaining clinical departments and ancillary services to relocate to the same building. These clinical departments include Dermatology, Endocrinology, Internal and Family Medicine, Neurology, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Pediatrics, Podiatry, Rheumatology, Urology, and Vascular Surgery.
Also, the Laboratory and Radiology Departments will expand while NexSlim Medical Weight Loss, U Medi Spa and Boutique, Internal Medicine Walk-in Clinic, the Diabetes Care/Anticoagulation Clinic, and the MMC Vein Center will be moving into their new space.
Dr. James Carter, MMC President, noted, "Having all of MMC's physicians and staff back under one roof will help facilitate patient convenience when referrals are needed as well as communication among a patient's treating physicians," said Dr. James Carter, MMC president. "A patient benefits when physicians can collaborate and communicate on a case more easily, and our new building facilitates that communication."
