BELL BUCKLE -- It was senior night in Bell Buckle on Tuesday night and the Webb Feet and their two seniors, Zack Ring and Ethan Arnold, didn't disappoint as the Feet came out on top 49-39 against the Zion Christian Academy Eagles.

The two Feet seniors got off to a hot start against the opposing Eagles on Tuesday. Both defenses played tough during the first minute of the game, but it was the Feet that struck first with a layup from Branson Popp.

After Popp's opening deuce, the Feet began to dominate the Eagles.

With just a few minutes left in the first quarter, senior Zack Ring nailed a wide open three to put the Feet up by nine. The Feet finished the quarter strong as leading scorer Chase Hullett came off the bench and accounted for six of the Feet's 15 first-quarter points, as the Feet led 15-6 after one.

"We came out and had a hot start again like we did last night, but we are just having trouble being consistent. Great first quarter, average second quarter, but the third quarter is our nemesis," said Webb Coach Jeff Mitchell.

Though the Feet had an average second quarter, they were still able to maintain their nine-point lead thanks to some solid free throw shooting, nailing seven of their 11 third quarter points from the line. The Feet took a 26-17 lead into the locker room.

After leading throughout the whole first half the Feet watched their nine-point lead slowly dwindle as they struggled offensively in the third quarter. The Eagles outscored the Feet 15-5 in the third thanks to Alex McKelvy scoring eight of the Eagles' 15 third quarter points.

Following a poor offensive quarter, the Feet soon found themselves trailing 32-31 heading into the fourth.

That's when Webb's defense kicked in again during the fourth as the Feet regained the lead and never looked back.

A quick release three by Hullett gave the Feet the lead, and his clutch free throw shooting helped them secure the win. Hullett was 7-for-8 from the line in the fourth, and 14-for-16 overall. The Feet were able to win the fourth quarter 18-7 to help them win their fourth game of the season.

"This was the first team we were able to hold under 40 points this year. [If] You keep people in the 40's we feel like we can be around," Mitchell said.

Not only was the Feet defense stout on Tuesday, but Hullett was on fire as he was the leading scorer with 22 points on the night, while Popp was able to add another eight.

The Feet play their last regular season home game on Saturday as they take on the Community Vikings after the girls' 6 p.m. tip-off.
