The lanky junior scored over, around and through the Huntland defense but he got plenty of support with 10 Vikings scoring in the game.
Community jumped all over the Hornets with an early 17-point burst while holding the opponent to just two field goals prompting a timeout.
The home team righted the ship to score nine unanswered but still found themselves trailing 21-20 after one period.
The game continued at a break neck pace as both teams ran the floor and fired away at will, but it was the Vikings who found the net most often to enter the intermission enjoying a 41-35 advantage.
Taylor Paschal drained two 3-pointers, Quinn Frost added one of his own and Logan Pierce and Simmons posted four points apiece to hold off the hard charging Hornets by a 59-46 count after three periods of play.
The Vikings went on to have their best scoring quarter of the contest thanks in part to a 16-of-20 effort from the free throw line when they maintained the lead enough that Huntland was forced to foul to stop the clock.
Simmons was 6-of-6 from the line, Paschal and Darian Pride hit 3-of-4 and Tyler Cowan hit a 3-pointer to finish off any thoughts of a comeback by the Hornets.
Jacob McLennan was the games top scorer with 31 points. Seth Satterfield had 15 and Kobe Foster netted 11 for Huntland.
Paschal added 11 and Frost put up nine for the Vikings. Community finished 19-of-28 from the charity stripe.
Huntland went to the line 13 times and hit on 11 aattempts.
Community welcomes Forrest on Friday at 7:30.
