Ag students compete in events

Agriculture Science students at Shelbyville Central High School, Career Technical Education Department, competed in various events around the state during the months of September through December in 2012. Several students won awards and will be attending the Agriculture State Convention in Gatlinburg, along with instructor Tommy Green, in March. The State Horse Evaluation was held on Sept.11 in Murfreesboro. The team placed 37th in the state out of 66 teams and placed fourth in the district. Middle Tennessee FFA Regional Soil Judging was held on Sept. 25 in Spring Hill. The team placed 15th in the region and second in the district. The district speaking contest was held Nov. 1 at Warren County High School. Jordin Hockaday was second in extemporaneous speaking and Brianna Gearlds was third in creed.
