UNIONVILLE -- The Community Viqueens braved the frozen tundra to get to the game but were never able to shake off the chill in one of the coldest shooting games ever witnessed in Roger K. Brothers Gym's short history.

The result was a 60-31 aberration in favor of the Forrest Lady Rockets that is not likely to be repeated again between the two long time rivals in coming seasons.

Ironically, it was Community (14-10, 8-6 9-A) that was quick on the trigger in the opening minutes on a basket by Hannah Busbee and two free throws by Katie Leverette to open a 4-0 lead, but from that point on the home team simply could not throw it in the ocean through the next 14 minutes.

The Lady Rockets, meanwhile, torched the nets to lead 16-4 after one period and then powered their way to a 33-4 advantage at the break.

Community rallied behind Mercedes Huntley's five points and a swarming press, but the visitors held a 40-19 lead going into the final stanza.

The Lady Rockets turned it up a notch in the fourth quarter as the Viqueens had to gamble on defense. Caitlyn Yost scored eight to lead the way to help close it out.

Community finished as the third-ranked team in the district.

Forrest hit 12-of-20 free throws and totaled six 3-pointers in the contest.

The Viqueens finished 10-of-17 from the stripe.

Community traveled to Webb on Saturday. Results were not available at press time.
