Baker solid in Harris victory
Harris Middle picked up its third win of the 2013 season with a solid 7-3 victory over visiting Franklin County South on Thursday evening.
The Eagles took control of the game with a two-run first inning and never looked back, adding one run in the third, and two more in each of the fourth and sixth frames to claim the win.
Crawford Baker gave the Eagles the boost needed from the mound, going six-plus innings of four-hit baseball and fanning nine batters in the process. Winston Caine took over in the top of the seventh with runners on the corners and held the visitors in check.
At the plate, Avery Brown led Harris with a pair of singles while Noah Mason, Colt Williams, Winston Caine, Crawford Baker, Jay Blackburn, Owen Womble, and Michael Dyer each added one hit apiece.
"We put the ball in play well tonight and made the plays we had to in the field to win. Again, our pitchers through well and threw strikes. Good to get another big conference win," said Harris coach Bill Woods.
The Eagles will be on the road on Monday as Harris looks to take the sweep against South. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
