Doris Faye Humphres
Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Faye Humphres, age 64, of Normandy, were conducted Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with Brother L.E. Butler officiating. Interment followed at Fredonia Cemetery. Visitation was held Saturday prior to services from 10:00 AM until time of services at noon.
Mrs. Humphres passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013 in Nashville, TN after an extended illness.
She was born September 1, 1948 in Winchester, TN, the daughter of the late Clarence Lamar Dotson and Jean Jernigan Dotson. In earlier years, Doris was a cosmetologist and operated "House of Hair" in Tullahoma and also worked doing hair in Manchester. Later, she was employed with the State of Tennessee, Department of Childrens Services, as a Juvenile Counselor for over 18 years. Following this, she also worked as a counselor at the Inman Home for Girls where upon its closing she retired. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Ed, in their RV to Florida and various places. She also enjoyed fishing and camping. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with the newest addition to her family, her great-grandson, Jace. She also adored her beloved dogs, Little Bit and Precious.
She is survived by her devoted husband and friend of over 16 years, Ed Humphres of Normandy; three sons, Tim York and wife, Tamera of Wartrace, TN; Kelly York of Chattanooga, TN; and Shane York of Manchester, TN; two grandchildren, Trestin York and Madison York, both of Wartrace; and great-grandson, Jace Finch. Also surviving are two sisters, Brenda Dotson of Manchester; Debbie Poff and husband, Elroy of Manchester; and a brother, Robert Dotson, also of Manchester and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
