David Albert Clanton, 46, of Shelbyville, passed from this life Saturday, September 28, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Fairlane Church of Christ with Brother Tom Henry and Brother Jonathan Sims officiating. The burial will follow at Rose Bank Cemetery in the Flat Creek Community.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Doak-Howell Funeral Home.

A native of Bedford County, David was the son of Albert Ray (deceased) and Sandra King Clanton Logue. David was the founder of Flat Creek Volunteer Fire Department and served as Fire Chief from 1986 until 2010, a former V.F.S.I. board member, and was employed at YRC (Roadway).

David is survived by his wife, Robin Cotham Clanton of Shelbyville; daughters, Blair Clanton, Kaley Clanton, Lauren Clanton, all of Shelbyville; sister; Susan Clanton Farris of Abingdon, Virginia; nieces, Alexandra Farris, Mackenzie Farris and Alison Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center, American Cancer Society, or the Hope Lodge.
