TULLAHOMA -- The Shelbyville Central freshman team just didn't have an answer for Michael Leslie in Thursday night's game in the Lions Bowl, held at Tullahoma High School against Franklin County.

Leslie ran for two touchdowns and hauled in a pass for a third score to lead the Rebels in a 22-20 win over the Eagles.

Leslie put the Rebels on the board with a 12-yard run in the first quarter and Logan Davis added a successful two-point conversion to put Franklin County up 8-0.

Staying close

But less than 30 seconds later, Akoyai Davis took the ensuing kickoff return 65-yards to the house, to bring Shelbyville within one following Noah Mason's successful kick after.

In the second quarter, quarterback Will Warner connected with Rapheal Witherspoon on the next two touchdowns.

Witherspoon hauled in touchdown passes of 71 yards and 24 yards, both in the second quarter, to give Shelbyville a 20-8 lead heading to halftime.

While Shelbyville dominated the second quarter, Franklin County opted to go back to the run, where Leslie took over.

He scored following a 12-play drive, which he finished off with a nine-yard scoring reception from quarterback Jacob Oliver with just under 2:30 to play.

Rebs claim win

After the touchdown, Franklin County opted for an onsides kick, which they successfully recovered on the Shelbyville 46-yard line.

Five plays later, Leslie notched the tying score on a three-yard run, and put the Rebs on top with a successful two-point conversion.

Shelbyville had chances in the fourth quarter following a few defensive stands and a Franklin County fumble, but the Eagles had trouble holding onto the ball.

In the fourth quarter, Shelbyville saw three drives end on turnovers, which allowed Franklin County to chew up the remaining clock.
