MAY MEETING

Garden Party

The May meeting of the Shelbyville Garden Club was held at the home of Donna Simmons. Hostesses of this fun occasion were Kay Simmons and Donna Simmons. Members brought tea cup arrangements which served as table arrangements during the luncheon and meeting.

Members also brought plants and cuttings to swap with one another. Helen Garner presented the devotion. Nancy Hulan judged the arrangements. Winners of the tea cup arrangements were: Helen Garner, Blue; Becky Coffey, Red; Amy Wells, yellow. Becky Coffey received the blue ribbon for her Horticulture entry, Lily. Winners of the "What Have You" category were Amy Wells, blue; Janie Burke, red; and Pam Beasley, yellow.

JUNE MEETING

Celebrating National Garden Week

Members of the Shelbyville Garden Club met in June at the home of Pam Beasley, with 12 members and four guests attending. Beasley and Suzy Stewart served as hostesses. Kay Simmons shared the devotion titled "Nature's Way." Donna Simmons, vice president, presided over the meeting.

She reviewed and discussed next month's agenda and assignments. Members were treated to a tour of Beasley's colorful gardens and manicured grounds, which consisted of unique flower containers, plants and trees. Beasley pointed out specific items in her landscaping which represented members of her family.

In recognition of National Garden Week, members were asked to bring arrangements consisting of summer flowers and greenery from their gardens at home. Following the meeting, arrangements were delivered to local businesses. Arrangements were judged by Margaret Smith, club judge.

Winning in the large arrangement category were: Dawn Rogers, blue; Janie Burke, red; Libby Davidson, yellow. Kay Simmons was awarded a blue ribbon for her medium sized arrangement.

The Horticulture theme was "Hydrangea" and winners were Janie Burke; blue, Kay Simmons, red; Babs Chicoine, yellow.

What Have You winners were Pam Beasley, blue, rose; Janie Burke, red, lily; Kay Simmons, yellow, rose.
