Grocery Give-Away is back

Kroger -- represented by managers Matt Breaux, Lou Lamb, Mike Smith, Wendel Miller, and Neil Lokey -- is teaming up with the Times-Gazette for this summer's $1000 Grocery Give-Away. "I finally won!"

"This is my first time to win!"

"I've shopped at Kroger for 50 years!"

"God is good!"

These are just a few comments from the 10 lucky winners of last year's $1,000 Grocery Give-Away, a contest sponsored by the Times-Gazette and Kroger.

Your chance to feed your hunger to win -- and, literally, feed yourself and your family -- is coming up again in a special advertising section Sunday, July 27.

Ten winners

The $1,000 Grocery Give-Away will award 10 lucky entrants with $100 gift cards from Kroger, 1010 North Main St. -- perfect for that end-of-summer family cookout.

This is the second time Kroger has partnered with the T-G in the give-away. Last year's contest proved to be so popular among readers -- with Kroger also receiving great customer feedback -- it was a natural fit to do it again.

"We are really excited to be a part of this again," said T-G editor Sadie Fowler. "It was great to make so many people happy last year. Everyone eats; everyone shops, and all of the winners seemed to genuinely appreciate the gift cards last year."

How it works

Look for a special section in the Times-Gazette on Sunday, July 27. Inside you'll find $1,000 Grocery Give-Away logos hidden in the advertisements. Count the total number of logos in the section (except the front and back pages) and enter the total number on an entry form in the section.

As much fun as it is for readers, the newspaper staff loves putting this contest together each year.

"We typically have more than 1,000 entries in this type of contest," said Sissy Smith, advertising manager. "It's great for readership and provides a wonderful vehicle for our advertisers. It's just a wonderful contest the whole community enjoys."

How to enter

Bring the entry forms to the Times-Gazette or Kroger of Shelbyville. Entry boxes will be available at both locations. No photo copies will be accepted.

Entry deadline is at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6 and winners will be announced Sunday, Aug. 10 in the Times-Gazette.

For more information about how to promote your business in the contest edition, call the T-G's advertising department at 684-1200 and ask for Sissy Smith, Janis Cannon or Christy Davis.
