T-G: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family.
Haile: I am a family-oriented person. I like things to be neat and in order! My husband Gary and I have been married for 30 years. Our son, Julian, graduated from Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee, and our son, Christian, is a junior at Berry college in Rome, Georgia.
T-G: How did you and your husband meet?
Haile: I first saw Gary at his sister's graduation. He asked me out five times -- I finally said yes. I am so glad I did!
T-G: Have you always lived in Shelbyville? If not, where else have you lived?
Haile: No, I have not. My family and I moved to Springfield, Ohio, when I was 6 or 7 years old. We moved to Shelbyville when I was 19.
T-G: What do you enjoy the most about living in Shelbyville now?
Haile: I love that Shelbyville is a small community. It's close knit and the people are friendly.
T-G: What was it like raising two boys and being the only woman in the house?
Haile: It was a joy! There was never a dull moment. Training two boys to become men is priceless. Raising boys was actually a lot of fun! When people ask me what I have learned about boys, I tell them that they are honest, funny, smart and of course, mischievous, at times.
T-G: Tell us about your career.
Haile: My career has consisted mostly with administrative work, problem solving, resolving conflict, human resource, customer service, and management specialist. I am looking forward to starting a new career in the near future.
T-G: I know your boys were very involved in athletics growing up. Tell us what sports they played and what was it like to always have games to attend?
Haile: Julian played soccer, baseball, football and ran track, Christian played soccer, baseball, football, basketball, and ran cross country. It was very busy to attend games all the time, but it was always exciting.
T-G: I know your husband is a very talented seamstress. Does he make some of your clothes? Tell us about that.
Haile: Yes, he does! He is so talented and gifted! Gary can take a piece of 99 cents (clothing) and make it look like it should be on a designer's couture line. He designs and sews a lot of my clothes. I am very grateful and blessed to wear anything he designs for me!
T-G: If you could have dinner with one person, dead or alive, who would it be?
Haile: Idris Elba.
T-G: What's your favorite meal?
Haile: Chicken and dressing, macaroni and cheese, turnip greens, apples and corn bread.
T-G: What are some things you enjoying doing in your spare time?
Haile: I enjoy shopping, walking, reading, and going to antique shops.
T-G: What would your idea of a perfect day be?
Haile: A free day to be on the beach with the temperature around 82 degrees would be my idea of a perfect day. Then afterwards a little shopping and dinner with my boyfriend (Gary)! Ha!
T-G: Do you have any specific goals for the year to come?
Haile: To continue to eat healthier, exercise more, learn more about the stock market, to be more organized, and to have more self-discipline. For a fun goal, I want a piercing or a tattoo -- I am teasing, my children would have a fit!!!
