Eaglettes advance in 8-AAA
COLUMBIA -- The Shelbyville Central Golden Eaglette softball team advanced after holding on to a 3-2 victory over Lincoln County in the District 8-AAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
The Eaglettes (17-10) face Tullahoma, an upset winner over top-seed Coffee County on Saturday, tonight in Columbia at 7 with the winner advancing to the championship game on Wednesday evening.
Shelbyville Central scored a pair of runs in the top of the fourth frame when Baylee Cook single and scored off a single by Kendall Durard. Allie Odeneal scored the other run after she reached base on a error then scored off base hit off the bat of Bailey Deason for the 2-0 lead.
The Eaglettes added another run in the top of the sixth inning off a RBI double by Chelbie Gannon for the 3-0 advantage.
Lincoln County had base runners reach after a hit batter and walk in the bottom of the sixth inning then score off a two-run single by R. O'Neal.
Gannon and Sydnie Johnson each doubled for the winners while Cook and Durard added a pair of singles.
Durard got the win on the rubber, fanning four, walking four in a two-hit effort.
