She was born April 25, 1922, in Lynchburg, Tennessee, to the late James and Addie Mae Laws Pierce. She was a homemaker, and along with her husband Buford, owned and operated the family business, Womble Trucking. She also worked with the Bedford County School System and managed the VFW Food Booth at the Celebration for 35 years. She was a member of First Christian Church before failing health prevented her from attending.
Her greatest pleasure was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook and care for them. She was known to prepare the same dish several different ways in her quest to please her family. Her family was her greatest joy.
Mrs. Womble was preceded in death by her husband Buford in 2007 and a son, Eddie Womble, in 1995.
Survivors include her daughter, Wanda (Bob) Payne, of Murfreesboro; four grandchildren, Susan (Dennis) Hurst, Tripp (Teri Jo) Womble, Phil (Lynette) Womble, Rob (Gretchen) Payne; nine great-grandchildren, Philip (Delanie) Womble, Bailey Womble, Jake Hurst, Eric Womble, Macey Hurst, Owen Womble, Whit Payne, Sam Payne, and Anabelle Sullenger.
Memorials may made to First Christian Church or Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
