UNIONVILLE -- The Community Vikings survived a 22-point fourth quarter by Webb's Robert Windham, including six treys, in defeating the Feet 65-61 in an intra-county contest Monday night.

In a low-scoring first quarter, the Vikings (8-13) used five points from Tyler Bushnell to jump out to a 13-8 lead.

Feet 3's

The Feet used four three-pointers in the second quarter to regain the lead.

Jarrod Wilson led the way with two of the treys as Webb took a 25-24 lead at halftime.

"We uncharacteristically made a whole lot of turnovers and had a ton of empty possessions," Coach Robbie Davis of the Vikings said.

Darian Pride of the Vikings scored nine of his team's points in the third quarter while Windham, in what was to be a precursor to his fourth quarter exploits, scored six as Community outscored Webb 17-13 to take a 41-38 lead.

"We came out in the second half and turned it over two or three times," Coach Jeff Mitchell of the Feet said.

"We didn't have real good concentration and they came down and took a lead," Mitchell added.

Tight clash

Neither team would budge in the fourth quarter as the teams combined for 47 points.

With Pride leading six Community scorers in the period by scoring seven points, the Vikings moved out to their biggest lead at 45-38.

But Windham kept the Feet in the game.

Windham's third trey of the quarter tied the game at 49-49.

Even with Windham hitting two more treys, the Vikings used some clutch shooting from Nathan Smith and a trey from Pride to go up 61-57.

Late threat

Windham's sixth trey pulled the Feet to within 61-60.

It was still a one-possession game until Pride's two free throws with 11 seconds left gave the Vikings their four-point margin of victory.

Pride led three Vikings in double figures with 24 points. Smith added 14, while Graham Cates had 10.

Windham's 32 points led the Feet.

"In the second half, we took care of the ball and made free throws," Davis said.

Big plays

"Right when we'd cut it, they'd make a big shot or two foul shots and we just couldn't get over the hump." Mitchell said.

The Vikings were 22-of-28 at the free throw line while the Feet were 9-of-15.

Webb had 10 treys in the game, while Community had five.

Webb travels to Zion Christian tonight.

Community plays at Forrest in a district matchup Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
