Wheel tax is fair to everyone
To the editor:
Many residents of Bedford County do not realize that we are mandated by the State of Tennessee to build a new jail. We also need several new schools. Our elected officials are very careful with our money, but a new jail and schools are must haves.
A wheel tax is the fairest way to raise money. When you see a house with six to eight cars and trucks parked on the property these people are not paying their fair share. $50 per vehicle per year is a very small price for them to pay to have their children educated.
All property owners should be very much in favor of this wheel tax. Otherwise their property tax will climb much more than the $50 for each vehicle will cost them. By the way, my wife and I have two cars and one truck.
