Mark Clanton will be missed

To the Editor:

I was saddened to read in the Shelbyville Times-Gazette about the resignation of Mark Clanton as the public works director for the City of Shelbyville.

Having known Mr. Clanton and worked directly or indirectly with him over the past 20 years, I can say the City of Shelbyville has some mighty big shoes to fill. Mr. Clanton was the type of individual that believed in going the extra mile and putting forth his best effort to make prospective projects a reality. He faced many challenges while employed by the City of Shelbyville but jumped the many hurdles that stood in the way.

I can say from experience that any time the county had an issue or situation, Mr. Clanton was always there to lend a helping hand or provide any needed assistance.

Thank you for your many years of service. Good luck in your future endeavors and God bless you in a great and mighty way.

Stanley Smotherman

Bedford County Road Superintendent
