Peggy Jean Locke Bell
Peggy Jean Locke Bell, 68, passed away at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville on August 16, 2016, with her immediate family at her bedside. Her parents were the late Edgar and Mildred Locke and she was a resident of Bell Buckle, TN for many years.
Peggy was born in Shelbyville, TN on February 3, 1948, attended Southside School and graduated from Shelbyville Central High School in 1966. She attended Middle Tennessee State University, then was employed there for several years in the office of the Dean of Admissions.
Always a voracious reader, Peggy was extremely intelligent with a broad and eclectic body of knowledge. She had a delightful sense of humor with a quick and hearty laugh, always appreciative of a good joke or pun.
Peggy was a lifelong member of the Bell Buckle United Methodist Church, for which she maintained a deep affection. She always cherished and enjoyed the fellowship of her friends there.
Peggy also enjoyed a special, heartfelt love for the town of Bell Buckle and the wonderful array of characters which comprised her local friends and neighbors. She considered it a particular privilege to be part of such a unique community.
Peggy Bell is survived by her loving daughter Rachel Hancock (Randy) and two cherished grandsons, Ryan and Riley Hancock, all of Bell Buckle, a dear brother, David Locke (Carolyn) of The Villages, Florida, and special nephew Scott Saunders of Bell Buckle. She also leaves behind numerous cousins and wonderful friends.
Services for Peggy Locke Bell will be at Bell Buckle United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at 11:00 AM. The church is located at 110 Maple St.
