An abysmal night at the free throw line cost the Cascade Middle Champions down the stretch on Monday night in a 38-35 loss to MTCS.

In the fourth quarter, the Champions were a glaring 0-for-10 from the charity stripe.

For much of the first half, the Champions were able to cling to a slim leader.

Following the first quarter, Community led 5-4 and 18-15 at halftime.

MTCS cut the Champion lead to two points, but Cascade was never out of reach.

The Cougars, meanwhile, charged ahead with 14 points in the fourth quarter, MTCS managed 5 of 6 tries from the line in the quarter, which proved to be the difference in the game.

As a team, Cascade managed just 2 of 13 tries in the contest.

Seth Countess was the lone Champion who reached double digits, scoring 13 points, while Landon Lane added three.

The Champions will close their regular season schedule on Thursday at Forrest.
