Letter to the Editor, Nov. 28
To the Editor:
I am a veteran, and I am getting sick and tired of hearing all the time that we support our veterans when half of them are homeless.
The other half, or more, are living in poverty and we are making it by going to food giveaways or signing up for food stamps. I know becaause I live below the poverty line, living from check-to-check each month.
Of the $800 a month I get, $500 out goes for the house payment and that leaves $300 a month for everything else. That isn’t nearly enough.
We are both sick and old, how can you say that every one loves the veteran.
I go to VA in Murfreesboro three or four times a month, a 62 mile round trip. My wife takes me but we do not get travel pay as they say we make too much.
