Monster 4th lands Middle Champs DRVC crown

UNIONVILLE — For three quarters, the Cascade Middle Champions battled the Forrest Rockets in the DRVC Championship.

After trailing 21-18 following three quarters of play, the Champs erupted for 21 points in the fourth quarter to knock off the Rockets and claim the conference tournament title with a 39-27 victory on Saturday afternoon.

The Champions made their living at the free throw line, making good on 19 of 27 tries in the win.

In the decisive fourth, Lucas Clanton was a near-perfect 8 of 10 attempts.

He led the Champs with 11 points.

Noah Mason, Ryan Inmon and Justis Carter each added eight points as well for Cascade in the winning effort.

Defensively, the Champions contained the Rockets and held them scoreless from the floor in the fourth quarter.

Forrest managed just six points in the fourth quarter—all of which came at the free throw line.

Andrew Timmons led all scorers with 15 points, eight of which came in the second.

Forrest trailed Cascade 8-5 after the first frame and rallied for a 16-11 halftime lead.

The Champs cut the Rockets’ lead to just three points by the end of the third.

Mason and Clanton earned All-Conference honors for Cascade, with Inmon, Clanton and Carter adding All-Tournament honors.
