Samuel Herman Pugh
Funeral services for Samuel Herman Pugh, age 85, of the Haskins Chapel Community will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2018, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Brother Blen Hinton and Kevin Jones officiating. Mr. Pugh passed from this life Thursday, January 4, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2018, at Doak-Howell Funeral Home.
Born August 2, 1932, in Bedford County, he was the son of the late Andrew Pugh and Flora Mae Batten Pugh. He was preceded in death by his son Scott Pugh; sisters Bonnie Blackwell, Dorothy White and Ruby Hartrick.
Sam had a love for dirt car racing and built Duck River Speedway in 1973. He sold the track but still continued to work there for many years after. He was a life-long member of Haskins Chapel Assembly of God.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Annette Pugh; daughters Peggy (Tommy Lawwell) of Haskins Chapel, Cindy (Tim Warren) of Flat Creek and son Jeremy Pugh of Haskins Chapel; brothers Dean Pugh of Shelbyville, Robert Pugh of Cornersville and Joe Pugh of Haskins Chapel; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
