HUNTLAND ó The Cascade Lady Champions fought host Huntland closely through three quarters on Thursday night.

But a close battle through three got away from the Lady Champions in the end in a 47-41 loss to the Lady Hornets.

Cascade kept the game close, fighting its way to the free throw line and proved to be rather efficient, making 12 of 16 tries in the game.

But Huntlandís 20-point effort, spearheaded by its own ability to get to the charity stripe in the final quarter proved to be the difference.

Huntlandís Kara Smith thrived at the line in the fourth, connecting on 5 of 6 attmepts.

As a team, the Lady Hornets shot 12 of 18 tries in the fourth quarter alone.

Good work

But even with Huntlandís ability to connect at the free throw line, Cascade got quality production from Carmen Ray and Grace Jackson.

The pair combined for five treys, with Ray knocking down three.

She led all scorers with 14 points, while Jackson chipped in 10.

Huntland was led by Smithís 12 points, while Caylee McLennan matched with 12 of her own.

Mikaylie Edwards also hit double digits with 10 points as well.

Cascade will be back on its home court on Tuesday in another District 8-A match up against Eagleville.
