Letter to the Editor

School district should stop walkouts

Wednesday, February 21, 2018

Editor: Following is the text of an email I have sent to all member of the Bedford County Board of Education and to the administration of our school district. If other of your readers agree, I hope they will also contact the school system.

You may be aware that various adult groups, including the NEA, are exploiting school children to promote a particular political agenda regarding guns. These groups have announced their intention to encourage students to walk out of classrooms on March 14 and again on April 20, at 10 a.m., for 17 minutes.

I am asking that you and the administration of the district communicate to all principals and teachers that no such walk-out will be allowed or tolerated.

Our students are not to be used as political pawns.

In another communication soon, I’ll suggest action we can take to help protect our children from the type of tragedy we have seen again recently.

Thank you for your hard work in service to our children and community.

John Anderson,

Bell Buckle
