Eagles, Tullahoma split
After claiming a win over visiting Tullahoma in the opening game of a District 8-AAA double-header on Wednesday afternoon, the Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles settled for a split after losing the second game, despite not allowing the Wildcats a hit.
Shelbyville won the first game behind a strong showing by starter Tyler McBay, 3-1, but dropped the second game, 3-1.
Tyler McBay was in total control on the mound for the Eagles going the distance, allowing four hits while striking out 11 with only one walk in seven innings of work.
He finished the game throwing 120 pitches.
The Eagles (2-5, 2-2) rallied for three runs in the fourth inning while Tullahoma’s lone run was a home run off the bat of Matthew Meadows.
Brandon Burns added a double for the Wildcats.
Mason Landers led Shelbyville Central at the plate with a pair of double and a single in three at bats.
In the second game, Tullahoma made the most of nine walks and four Eagle errors.
Meadows got the win on the mound, going four innings while giving up one run, three hits with six strikeouts and one walk.
Levi Turner closed out the final three innings for Tullahoma.
Mason Wright and McKamey each ripped a double apiece for the Eagles.
