Missing hits hurt in Eaglette defeat

A lack of production at the plate was the difference in Shelbyville Central’s 7-1 loss to visiting Lincoln County in a District 8-AAA matchup on Thursday evening.

The Lady Falcons collected 13 hits, including five for extra bases while the Eaglettes (0-4, 0-2) had four hits, including a two for extra bases.

Shelby Bryant blasted a home run and single with three RBIs, Anna Thorton ripped a pair of triples while Lydia Johnsey and Emma Summer had a double and single each to lead the winners at the plate.

Junior Taylor Sanders blasted a RBI triple and added a single, Kaylee Adams doubled with Kate McKamey adding a single to account for Shelbyville Central’s hits.

Heidi Duham claimed the win in the circle with three strikeouts and a pair of walks.

Gracie McCullough went the distance for the Eaglettes, fanning four with no base-on-balls.

Shelbyville Central plays in the Riverdale Warrior Classic in Murfreesboro on Friday night and Saturday.
