Big G Express driver nationally honored

Stephen Richardson of Big G Express was recognized as Truckload Carriers Association Company Driver of the Year at the TCA annual convention in Kissimmee, Florida. The award, which includes a check for $25,000, identifies and honors drivers who have an outstanding safety record, give to their communities, and enhance the image of trucking.

"We are thrilled to have Stephen representing Big G Express," said Big G Express President Randy Vernon. "With almost 2 million miles of safe driving and a passion for sharing the safety message and improving the trucking image, Stephen is a great example of professionalism and is very deserving of this honor and recognition."

"One of a Kind is Stephen Richardson's handle and the best way I can find to describe this 27-year veteran of the trucking industry. We all know it takes a special person just to be a professional driver, but Stephen does the job with a grace and demeanor that most would find impossible to achieve in today's environment," Vernon said in his nomination statement. "He handles the demands of his job on a daily basis in all facets among the finest I have ever seen. Richardson is safe, on time, and always represents himself, his family, Big G Express and our industry in the absolute finest manner."

Richardson has been part of the Big G Express family over 17 years, He was named Driver of the Month in June 2012 and honored as Big G's first Driver of the Year in June 2013. He was selected as a Tennessee Road Team Captain and Tennessee's Driver of the Year in 2014, and is currently serving as a captain on America's Road Team. Stephen has been sharing the message of safety and working to improve the trucking industry image nationwide.

Stephen and his wife, Angela, live in Decatur, Alabama. When he isn't out on the road driving, Stephen enjoys spending time with his children, Kelton and Deaira, and especially his grandsons, Jaylen and Josiah, who live nearby in Huntsville. Even though Stephen is traveling the country for his job, he and his wife enjoy traveling and taking trips to new places and some places, such as Las Vegas, over and over.
