FCE Club reports
Town & Country FCE
Town & Country FCE club met at Cannon United Methodist Church on June 11. All seven club members were present.
President Janelle Douglas called the meeting to order and gave both the household hint and the devotion.
UT Extension intern Jasmine Esquivel gave the program June Jar Month, demonstrating a number of fun crafts with mason jars. UT Extension Agent Whitney Danhof was also present.
Secretary Jane Lile took the roll call, noted volunteer hours and read the minutes of the May meeting. Treasurer Jean Stimpson reported no change in the club's balance.
Upcoming events were discussed, including Lunch & Learn on June 27 and the Share Fair on July 10 at 6 p.m.. The dates for this year's Bedford County Fair are July 23-28.
Several members had finished projects to share. Catherine Talley shared a framed Habitat For Humanity Sampler, one of several she will deliver to the Shelbyville office soon. She also displayed the thimble holder and scissors and pin book for an embroidered container already completed. Hazel Foster brought five Christmas ornaments featuring hearts which will be hung on the EGA Shelbyville Group's tree at a Shelbyville bank next holiday season. Janelle Douglas brought in completed pillow cases done during the last meeting's work session and since by several members. These will be distributed to an organization in Shelbyville, though no specific destination has been decided upon. In addition, she demonstrated how to make a purse out of a 45-inch square of lightweight fabric, no sewing required. Jane Lile brought a fleece blanket finished with the blanket stitch, a stitched eyeglass case with a snap-shut opening made from a metal measuring tape, a stitched hair barrette and a smocked Christmas ornament.
Club members decided upon their annual July meeting festivities, which will be held at the home of Janet Boyce on July 9 at 11 a.m.

The Shelbyville FCE Club met June 5 at the home of Margaret Hicks. Seven members were present.
Helen Williams read the Call to Order, “Unspoken Words.”
Devotion was given by Margaret Hicks, “No Record.”
The educational lesson was on “June Jars” given by Whitney Danhof, the FCE Club Agent. The program was on ideas for using Mason jars. Helen Williams volunteered to bake cookies for the Duck River Cleanup.
Members were reminded of upcoming events.
