Ewing seeks 2nd Ward City Council seat
Marilyn Ewing has announced her candidacy for a 2nd Ward seat on Shelbyville City Council in the Nov. 6 general election.
Ewing is a broadcaster who delivers live traffic reports for nine radio stations for The Chattanooga Traffic Network and Brewer Media Group. She hosts the cable television program “Marilyn & Company,” which debuted in 1997.
Born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Ewing moved to Shelbyville at an early age. She is the daughter of Ruby Ewing and the late Eugene Ewing Sr. and is a 1981 graduate of Shelbyville Central High School who attended Motlow State Community College and Middle Tennessee State University. Her radio career began in 1986 with local and regional shows such as “Let’s Do Lunch” and “Marilyn in the Morning.”
Ewing was a graduate of the 1994-95 class of Leadership Bedford and was a trustee for Argie Cooper Public Library (now Shelbyville-Bedford County Public Library) from 2008 through 2014.
Ewing has one child.
“I am eager to join city and county officials and leaders with a ‘New Voice, New Vision’ for the betterment of all that live and work here and our guests as visitors and tourists,” said Ewing.
