Coffee County slams Eaglettes

The Shelbyville Central Golden Eaglettes fell 13-1 to visiting Coffee County in a District 8-AAA matchup in the opening game of the season on Tuesday night.

The Eaglettes’ (0-1, 0-1) lone highlight was a home run by lead-off hitter Lexie Taylor in her first at bat.

Coffee County banged out 14 hits and had a nice pitching performance by Keri Munn.

Munn scatted three hits while fanning five with only one walk.

Zoie Bondurant got the start in the circle for the Eaglettes, allowing seven runs off seven hits with five walks and one strikeout in 3 2/3 innings of work.

Sarah Margaret Housch made a relief appearance, giving up six runs on seven hits with a pair of walks while fanning one.

Ashley Evans ripped a triple and two singles, Haley Richardson had a double and three singles while Sarah West collected a double and single.

The Eaglettes return to action on Thursday at 7 on the road at Lincoln County, weather permitting.
