Leonard Allen Mallard
Funeral services for Leonard Allen Mallard, age 80, of Shelbyville will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 6, 2019 in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Brother Lester Hawkins officiating. Entombment will follow in Willow Mount Cemetery. Mr. Mallard passed from this life Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN.
Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Born August 31, 1938 in Shelbyville, he was the son of the late Freeman Mallard and Dorothy Lee Dye Mallard and was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Patricia Clay Mallard who passed February 2012. He was also preceded in death by his siblings; Mary Jane Howard, Carl Mallard, Betty Mallard Wright, Bill Obrien, Alfred Stone, Mary Helen Mallard.
Mr. Leonard was a hard working man, who said you could not make money working for somebody else, but you had to own and operate your own business. So he, along with his wife, owned and operated several businesses in Shelbyville. Some of those establishments were; The Hobble House, Derry Street Market, Guy’s CB, L&M Grill, Pizza Villa, Pat’s Fashions, J&M Market also in Winchester. After his retirement, he delivered new cars for Newton Nissan. He also served his country in the United States Marine Corps, and worshiped at the Philippi Methodist Church.
Survivors include his sons Tim (Jan) Mallard of Winchester, Bart (Dorie) Mallard of Loudon, grandchildren Kevin (Amy) Mallard of Decherd, TN, Tanner (Courtney) Mallard of Tullahoma, Jerrica (Josh) Harshbarger of Tullahoma, Siblings Bobby and Thurman Mallard, William Gazaway and Jessie Crossland and five great-grandchildren.
