Praise for SCHS food drive, students

To the Editor:

I am a volunteer at Good Samaritan. This is my second year for helping unload the cans of food and other items donated by Shelbyville Central High School.

First, I would like to thank all those who donated food and toiletry items. We were getting very low on some food items and also toilet paper. It is difficult to tell someone in need, especially a homeless person, that we just do not have much to give out at this time. What a blessing it was to see all those trucks filled with donations arriving at the Good Samaritan this past week.

Secondly, I would like to thank all those young people for their help in loading and unloading these donations. They worked so hard, never complained, were very polite and very organized. I believe their coach was instrumental in helping and organizing the deliveries. Some may say the high school students of today leave something to be desired, but not our Shelbyville Central High School students. They were a credit to their school and to the community and I was very proud of them. Thank you again.
