Letter to the Editor

Tennessean article was wrong

Thursday, July 2, 2020

Letter to the editor,

As chairman of the Bedford County Election Commission, I am responding to an article published in the Tennessean newspaper on June 26, 2020.  It stated "Any registered voter in Tennessee can request an absentee ballot.  In these 33 counties you wouldn't know it." This article included Bedford County.

The information in that article is untrue and deserves a retraction.  Bedford County Election Commission website has current information regarding absentee ballot requests and can be viewed at www.bedfordcountytn.org. The language was added on June 8, 2020.  We have always maintained current information on our website about absentee voting.

The administrative staff and members of the election commission are always here to assist voters in any way.  If you wish to vote by absentee ballot by mail please go to our website at www.bedfordcountytn.org. or call our office at 931-684.0531 for more information.

Danny Robbins,

Chairman of the Bedford County Election Commission
