Our Very Own

The independent film "Our Very Own," written and directed by Cameron Watson, is set in Shelbyville during the 1970s and tells the semi-autobiographical story of Watson and his friends trying to realize their dreams of stardom while coping with personal problems at home.

McLean takes own life behind Shelbyville church (09/26/07)
The collapsing life of Murfreesboro financier Robert "Bob" McLean came to an abrupt end early today when he apparently shot himself to death behind First Christian Church in Shelbyville. Ron Vannatta of Shelbyville is suing financial investment broker Robert W. McLean, president of McLean and Company of Murfreesboro. Vannatta's legal battle for millions invested by him at McLean's request is just one of the suits facing McLean. According to reports, Vannatta said McLean and Mark S. Riddle of Rutherford County convinced him to mortgage "virtually all of his real estate holdings in order to fund large investment accounts controlled by McLean."...

With "Our Very Own" released on DVD today, Shelbyville native Cameron Watson, who wrote and directed the film, is already looking ahead to other projects, including possibly another job directing a movie. Watson told the T-G he was excited about today's DVD release. "I hope everyone runs out to get their own copy. I have always said the film is a valentine to our town, and now that valentine can be shared and treasured by all."...
