  • Garden update: I tried cucamelons!. Our daughter had some extra plants so I planted them. https://www.google.com/search?q=cucamelons&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozill...

I did not know how big (or small) they were going to be so when I saw them I waited a while, but they are as big as they are going to get. (large grape) Kind of a cucumber with a lemony twist.

Not Deb's adventurous mouthful but I will try adding them to some salads. Mrs. Lee will try them, now that I know they are ripe.

The plant is "dainty" so don't think they are not doing well. Have faith.

My yellow squash are starting to succumb to the squash bug since I basically gave up trying to police them. Same thing for zucchini and spaghetti squash.

The corn was pitiful. The tassels actually grew kernels, the corn was small and grew old before I realized they were ready. A different batch was better but I am reinforced in my opinion to leave corn to other growers with more room. (until next time, anyway)

Edamame did well. Have a second wave about to come in and I really need to get out there to plant a third wave.

Chinese Fuzzy melon did well and bitter-melon. We are the hit with the Chinese restaurants again. WE bring them to three in Shelbyville and one in Tullahoma.

I usually lose my tomato plants so I planted more to make up for it. Instead, most of them are producing so we are constantly taking tomatoes to folks.

Grew some Romas, Big Girl and a purple something (forgot the name Cherokee2). They are huge and taste great! The "one slice per sandwich" type.

My bathtub tomatoes did poorly so I pulled them a few days ago. Same thing for eggplant. Flea beetles!!! May plant again as soon as I get a 'round-tuit'.

Several basils are doing well but we don't use them so.... Japanese cucumbers did well and some volunteer Armenian cukes are starting to come in. Got some rain today that we needed.

    That's it.

  • No one caught it? I really, really, really wanted today to be Friday, but Debbi splashed ice water on me a few minutes ago and reminded me it is Thursday. DRAT!
