Not my photo but sure says what I want www.ambassadorpiping.com
If you cannot be inside today, my apologies for bring it up but it is a nice day to be staying warm and dry.
I am fortunate to be able to work in front of big Southern facing windows but even that does not cheer up this day on the outside. The fireplace is next to me, but we rarely fire it up anymore. All our wood goes into the whole house heater since it is much more efficient.
The fireplace is nice, don't get me wrong, but it is not very efficient, even though it has natural heat convection air passages that pull cool air off the floor and push warm air out the top.
It also has enough thermal mass that once it has been fired up for a few hours, the rocks emit a warmth throughout the first and second floor. Sounds great and it is in a backup situation but it uses so much of our hard-earned wood that I prefer the Ashley.
The soil is getting a good soaking, which as a gardener, I appreciate. It does not seem to be too heavy, so most of it is sinking in and it is a necessary part of the natural circle.
Do you have any rainy day thoughts?
