Maybe the last wood splitting of the season? I HOPE!
It isn't a great forecast but I see a general warming trend this week. At least no big dips to single digit! And the long-range forecast for next week is even better! Yeah!
My winter sown jugs are frozen solid one half inch below the surface so this should really show me how well the system does. I could easily move them into the greenhouse where it has not dropped below 50 this winter, but I know I can start them there, so....
Speaking of that though, it is time to start some of my early plantings. I'll plant the exact some things that I put in the jugs so we can see how they compare.
I use tax day as my target for the last frost day (although others have been extending that by as much as two weeks. With a little protection close by, it usually works out OK.
Of course this year has been a bit different. I finally lost my Chinese cabbage in the tubs, even though they were under glass. Three waves of single digit weather was just a bit too much.
It might have also been too much for my rosemary. At best, we will probably have a much smaller set of bushes, which will be OK with Deb. She has been wanting me to cut them back all last year.
Anyone want to talk garden meeting yet?
