  • I am sorry for your loss, forever homes are a gift. It is hard when a beloved pet dies. She touched your heart as u did hers!

  • One way to start the day is with tears.......Tears for something beautiful that has touched our lives.. Reading about the end always takes me there.

You are such good people to have limitless affection for those in need.

  • Thanks haybar, palindrome. Just reading your comments have me misty-eyed again, but we believe Susie was in pain and KNOW she was not living her preferred life anymore, so...... it was time.

As I write this I have our youngest rescue biting my toes. Limitless desire to help, but sometimes the bite is really good! Ouch!!

  • Also as I write this I am looking out at on of our cats' favorite pastimes, watching the bird feeder. That brings me to feeding the birds and peanut butter.

Whew, took a little to get to the segue subject, birds and peanut butter. I thought they would love us putting some bird seed in peanut butter and serving it like suet. Wrong! No one is interested. Does anyone use peanut butter successfully?

  • My daughter does........

In the past her budget hasn't always permitted the cost of birdseed for the myriad of birds at her feeder. She has always taken her responsibility seriously to keep food at the feeder and covered the lean times with peanut butter sandwiches.

Just as her dogs will compete for carrot peels her birds have never been fussy either and those peanut butter sandwiches disappear.

  • Bread with peanut butter?

I thought I had a customer just now. Jumped up with the binoculars but it was gone so quickly that I don't know if it was just sitting on there, eating or what kind of bird it was.

  • My woodpeckers love the peanut butter suet I keep up.

Sorry, you lost a superhero Steve, she must have given you a kitty lifetime of joy and comfort through a storm or two. I think I got a superhero myself sitting beside me now, but only time will tell.
