  • I finally have tomato plants that are taking hold, it's been an expensive endeavor with my OCD personality to nurture each and every plant I grew from seed; however, It was definitely a learning I know I needed.

The strawberries I planted have done the best, apparently the soil conditions are perfect for them. My pumpkin and cucumbers have really taken off and started their climbs, I'll be wrapping those vines right up my bamboo trellis for sure.

I planted those "love in the mist" seeds and they have sprouted healthy, so I'll see what they will do soon enough.

Next year will be a strawberry summer! Hey, do you think "pine straw" would be a good idea over the winter on those strawberries? After mistaking hay for some straw at the beginning of the season and having a grass grow, causing extra work, I'm a little leery.

I guess I'll have a pumpkin for pie come Thanksgiving this year and maybe enough to share!

  • Pine straw should be perfect. It won't mat down and no chance of weeds.

Love in the Mist has already sprouted? Wow!

I had bunch in my car the other night but .... Forgot.

  • You are probably right. I was thinking I had just given you some last week. I was beat last night from experimenting in the garden and was not thinking clearly. (nothing unusual)

  • I picked a couple of oriental egg plant too! It's about the only thing producing, besides lettuce, right now.

Everything is doing ok though; just taking it's time...

  • Maybe just waiting for the weather to take a friendly turn, as it may have this week. Sure would be nice to get a good shower every day to rebuild the moisture in the soil.

On a side note, we miss you Palindrome. Both on these posts and at the meetings. What can we do to get you there Friday?
