  • The tomato should be "chocolate stripe" but I am not sure it is true to its' "bloodline" because I did not separate tomato plants and I am sure there was some hanky panky going on.

Some of the fruit are smooth but a lit more are multi-lobed, I don't know enough about the variety to say if that is normal or not, but one thing I can say, it sure was delicious. Ate another one for lunch today.

  • Speaking of the bale gardens, they have really decomposed quickly. Cherokee2 had built some containers around the bales and I think that would be the best thing in our climate.

It should cut down on evaporation and hold the rotting material together. In some cases my plants started slipping down into the bale and if I had had them semi-enclosed I could have added topsoil or more straw.

I like the relatively weed free, raised garden though. I say relatively because I had some weeds show up from me adding a little topsoil to add bacteria to the bales and I have a very persistent 'bindweed' coming up the sides all the time.

  • On both of us, I didn't check either, and it isn't as if I've never done it myself.

  • Sorry I missed it folks. I hope Mark made it since he knew why I was absent.

I am going to plant my soybeans again today. I may have planted early this year, or my seeds might be terribly out of date. With the rain projected for the next few days, they should get a decent chance to redeem themselves.

  • Yeesh! I am glad it is cool out there!

I show 70 degrees but Shelbyville says 75. Maybe, but either way, I was dripping like a faucet with just a little exertion this morning.

Yesterday was a two shower day and if I don't watch out, today will be too. Heard thunder rumbling in the distance, so I will keep my fingers crossed that rain is coming. IN his heat, things dry out sooooo quickly.

  • I was there for sure.....great conversation! Mrs Donna brought a few of her smaller tomatoes to try...they were perfect in flavor size and color....A welcomed flavor and addition for our meal.

It poured rain here at the house this afternoon...I may get out there and water a little more just to make sure the garden got a good soaking...So far its all starting to perk up and jump a little! I hope I get a tomato before summer ends though..My tomato are safe but puny...Maybe a little more fertlizer will help them jump even more!
