  • For some reason I have the blues today. Not music wise, emotional. It probably came from losing tack of three kittens over the past two days.

They've disappeared before but their food always has too. This time, the food is going stale and so is my mood.

I know those of you who have responded to my comments about needing homes for these guys feel my "pain" so I am not trying to play on your sympathies, but if someone is out there on the edge, PLEASE consider trying two siblings?

They come with a money back guarantee and since we don't ask for any money, what could be better? If they do not work out, bring them back to us. At least we tried.

Although we feed them twice a day and care for their sniffles, bumps and bruises, it is not the same as having their own humans to love (and ignore). :-)

There are several "lovers" in this batch. Buddy, Timothy, Stanley, Rosa, Luna, Flower, and Tammy, to name a few. Terry is one that has been missing a few days and the thought of losing these others, just has me down I guess.

I got to looking at photos of others we saved and it helped. Wendy is just about a year old now and she was small enough to fit in the palm of my hand when her mother abandoned her because she was sick.

She just about rules the house now. Older cats twice her size run in fear when Wicked Wendy gets fired up. Not sure why since she rarely gets in a knock down, drag out fight. Maybe they are just humoring her.

  • Durn it! The last post is not the reason I started writing. It was to reinforce having a cold-weather garden.

I've never done that well with lettuce but this Fall has been delicious. Deb had some chicken salad but no lettuce for sandwiches. I just walked outside and snipped a few leaves off several types and BAM!

It is time to cook up some Russian kale and maybe some collards. I did not grow a lot, but it sure will brighten an otherwise gloomy day.

Now to have some of that apple pie.

  • Debbi just called after delivering our last fuzzy melon to some Chinese friends. They gave her seeds from two different squash they say is VERY good.

I love surprises. I believe we have taken them the Winter melons before so this must be different. It supposedly gets very big and must be sun-cured for a few days so I am guessing a winter squash of some sort, but.....?

  • Great news! Three days and the wayward little ones are back!

They're acting as if they were never away but overly aggressive about their food so I know they have not been eating a lot.

I don't know why three would go together. Did their Mom go on a walk-about and they tagged along? Did they wander off on their own?

    They're not talking, just eating.
