What a wonderful weather day! Unless it isn't.

  • Uh-oh, lights are flickering.

My Gravel man was waiting for my driveway to dry up before putting the new gravel down.

So much for that 2 Loads of Driveway Gravel!

I am just thankful I don't live out in Washington.

  • Ditto on not being in Washington.

Our goldfish pond 'floweth' over and I just graded the driveway so this rain will test my 'water-breaks'.

  • Looks like my driveway survived, but if I had not just rebuilt the "breaks" I may have had a new grand canyon.

The rain must have flushed four new baby kittens into the garage. They have been under the kitty hi-rise I built of wood skids but this evening I notice three new heads at the dishes in the garage.

They could not have gotten in by themselves so I presume the mother must have decided the rain was getting too much. I went looking for the fourth and found it under the skids but could not catch it.

I would not have been able to sleep with a little one out under the skids alone tonight so I sat about 20' away watching to see if I could get a chance to catch it.

About 45 minutes later one of the male young cats came out of the garage, found the kitten and brought it to the outside of the garage but for some reason did not carry it in. The mother also came out, but again, did not bring it in. (There is a opening about 15" up and the kitten could not jump it)

It started heading for the skids again so I intervened. I expected a BIG fuss from the kitten but it did not happen.

Instead, it quietly sat in my arms as I carried it in and placed it on the floor next to its siblings. They joined forces and are now playing together in the warmth (relative) and dry protection of the garage.

    Happy ending.

  • Just wait, it's going to get really cold this weekend, like lower 20's...there goes any garden I might have had left...time to give it up!

I might just crawl in my cave and start hibernating, this bear's feet get cold!
