  • I'm a big catch and release fan but a fresh brook trout diner is just so...... gooood. It makes it really had to become a vegetarian. (of which I am not)

While I've caught my share of fish, the more I fished, the more I increased my chances of NOT catching fish, so I often had to console myself with the experience.

Some a little harrowing, like losing your footing in a rapidly flowing, deep stream in chest waders that "swept" one off their feet. Once those waders fill up with water the REAL struggle starts.

But overall fishing is a beautiful, relaxing way to share some time with family, or just yourself.

Most of my fly fishing gear has disappeared over the years and my fly tying supplies are totally missing, but if you want to be creative on a small scale, tying flies can be a true art.

Can't get out to photograph nature, fish, garden, hunt, bird watch, etc? You can sure bring a lot of nature to you, sitting at a work table, creating flies.

It sure used to help pass the Winter months and create dreams the likes of what we see in Amy Todd's article referenced above. I bet it could also be a nice little income for someone who creates a reputation.

  • Fishing or tying flies?

I am not sure I have enough time in a day, week or month to start again. Wouldn't mind, but in reality I probably won't unless I don't need eBay or we get rid of the house and all that goes with it.

  • Know what you mean there.......I have the supplies, the books and the desire but having the responsibility of the house, etc. means there is never enough time. Have never even used the fishing license I bought several years ago....... Keep hoping.....

  • Our daughter got me out on Bedford Lake this summer for a combination kayak/fishing outing. Enjoyed in immensely, but felt guilty about what I did not do. :-(

Feel similar about golf. I could never feel right about how long it takes to play a round, but I really enjoy it when I go.

Life sure does get in the way sometimes.
