This isn't a plug for the T-G, really, but.......

Rather, it is a plug for hometown/local newspapers who mix some International/National news with a whole lot of local news. News that would not mean much to anyone else but us.
I have almost stopped watching my news. I used to turn it on briefly while getting a bite to eat in the morning, but between the incessant political news and otherwise hyped news about some tragedy, it just is not worth the blast of cold 'yuck' thrown in my eyes and ears.
Paul Harvey used to have a radio show called "The Rest of the Story". I found it to be an entertaining show, but if we found out the "rest of the story" on most of this National/International stuff we would probably find ourselves referencing Shakespeare frequently "Much Ado About Nothing".
OR, we would find that the story was so butchered, adapted, or slanted by the reporter/"news" agency that it was close to worthless.
And to what end? So they could ruin the day of millions? (more precisely, to sell their ads) No thanks. Give me the local, mundane appearing stuff. I'll eventually hear the other stuff that has finally been vetted and clarified.
