  • Before I moved to Tennessee for the second time ( this time ) I lived in another state between several mid-sized cities and villages with a shared daily newspaper. On the last page of the paper was a free-for-all forum where anonymously one could communicate their views on any subject ( within reason ). As it grew in popularity so did the animosity in the posted messages until it appeared to be escalating to implode ( or explode ). Hard to tell which.

Many reasonable subscribers stepped in and started voicing their earnest discontent that " Enough is enough " as they cancelled their subscriptions to the newspaper. The overall feeling was that this forum cheapened the integrity of the newspaper by allowing posters to stray from the topic and resort to ugly name-calling in the name of free speech.

As readership dropped it did not take long for the newspaper to act by canceling the forum. Topics were still discussed however and letters to the Editor and the communities were still welcomed. The change in the behavior of the " disgruntled " became apparent very quickly when in order to get posted one had to submit their personal information and not just a pen name. You know, the way it used to be.

  • It's a shame isn't it. I really want to keep the topics flowing, but the freedom of anonymity is just hard to handle. Guess they have it all built up and need a vent.

If somehow I could contact someone who goes off the deep end without doing it publicly it would help, but that would mean that I know who it is and that makes some uncomfortable.

A person expressed interest in the garden club but I doubt they will come because of their comments here. Shame, I can handle it. In fact, I would have to go back and re-read comments to remember who said what and there is not enough time in the day for that.

Of course, maybe they ARE attending and have done a good job at holding that back. :-)

  • The point....Exactly.......

  • What point, exactly? The garden club, the off-line chatting with someone about calming down, the need to vent, or, all of the above? :)

  • I just read the paper and it said, we need 29 million dollars to build a new jail and offices. What a sad situation, that the good people in Shelbyville have to pay to take care of all the bad ones. Don't have an answer, wish I did. A tax payer.

  • Agreed HPP.

What do they do with the money they confiscate from law breakers? Just wondering if it goes into the budget or set aside while we determine guilt or innocence, or something else.

  • " Holding that back " is what I was referring to......When there is a face or name attached to the words often the words are different....

  • Very true Palindrome. I know from our personal conversations that there are times, maybe numerous ;-) in which we did not agree, but we seem to peacefully maintain our friendship.

I am not sure when I finally stopped worrying so much about how something was said to me and instead stepped back to see what the person was saying.

That is not to say I have not had some mildly heated conversations in my adult life, but if I am highly ticked at something that requires a written response IF I respond, such as here. I often wait a day, two and sometimes never respond.

I think Hillary needs to start wearing something orange in color with her pant suits to get her use to the solid orange jumpsuits.

Since Hillary Clinton said that "EVERYONE" KNEW What SHE was Doing with her emails, I think Obama might want to start wearing something orange on his person everyday too.

I had to run into Walmarts to pick up some items to hold us over while we had guests. Walmart has taken it upon themselves to re-arrange their shopping items in new places.

Now I know this is a trick to get shoppers to stay longer and look at other items that are placed in their spots hoping the shopper will buy more.

They don't think that shoppers like me will just go shop at another store if you make it a hide and go seek adventure!

Their favorite past time is placing items that I like to buy, on the bottom shelf where you have to get down on your hands and knees to find the price. I don't buy anything that isn't priced!

Little ol me with Heart disease, COPD, Asthma, Emphysema, Arthritis, Back pain, High Blood Pressure and Diabetes, if and when I get down on my hands and knees, I have to roll over to see the price tag. Now I'm laying on the floor reaching for my reading glasses so I can see if I am looking at the right price tag for what is sitting there on the bottom shelf. In most cases, it isn't the same item.

The next thing is trying to get back up without calling out "Help, I've fallen and can't get up". So, if you ever see an old man laying on the floor in Walmart, it will probably be me checking out the everyday LOW Prices. Kick me first to see if I move before you yell out "CLEAN UP ON ILSE...!"

  • :-) They do make it challenging at times.

Makes me wonder if there is an opportunity here to put a bar-code scanner on an extension and lend it out to folks who have similar problems.

Can't see it, scan it and it reads out on a screen as to price and description. Hmmmm. Does someone already have it?

If I really want an item I will just take it to a service desk and ask them how much it cost.

I really don't lay on the floor. Nothing is worth all that. Besides someone would probably run over me or kick me while I was down.

However some things are in a big package that hangs over the shelf so the price can't be seen. I was just ranting!

I did see today that Hillary missed the bullet. She did have "TOP SECRET" Stuff on her private server but that was not worth prosecuting her for? Shame they didn't investigate Edward Snowden. Maybe he would have been a hero. It just doesn't pay to be a whistle blower.

  • The same FBI that let the Orlando shooter off the terrorist list?

Go Figure and President Obama said there is no man or woman better than Hillary Clinton to be the President of the United States.

That sure doesn't say much for the American men and women.

But then we have to realize that Obama is half black/half Muslim and has done everything he has done to destroy America. His recommendation does mean anything. However, he is right in his belief that Hillary will continue destroying what Obama doesn't have the chance or time to destroy before leaving office.

What better woman to run the job as the President than a woman who has failed at everything she has be placed in charge of. What better woman to do the job as the President than the woman who has proven to be untrustworthy and proven to be a woman who lied about her emails, Benghazi, the cause of the death of the 4 men at Benghazi to their families. The woman who has yet to apologize to the mothers and fathers of the men who died at Benghazi. The woman who the FBI said lied about all the emails she had on her servers and the emails she never turned in after saying she had. The woman who had more than one server for her emails when she said she only had one.

When the Brain Dead 51% of the Americans vote her in office, they need to vote for the seventh FBI Director James B. Comey to sit at Hillary's right hand.

The bible says that Satan is the god of this world, and we can see all his angels coming together in Washington, DC.

    My theory on FBI Director James Comey's findings;

Hillary Clinton is guilty of lying about just about everything she has said about her emails. Comey admits she has lied about them and anyone in the government or state department should know the things that were done was illegal. That says GUILTY to me!

    Comey has no intentions of asking an Obama AG to ask the Grand Jury to indict her, because, (1) The AG won't ask for the Grand Jury to indict her; (2) Bill Clinton will make her recuse if she did; (3) The Grand Jury would all be Democrats and free Hillary from any future Trials; (4) If she was prosecuted at this time she would be PARDONED by Obama; (5) If she became President she would be untouchable; (6) Comey and AG Lynch would both lose their jobs under Obama;

HOWEVER, He did explain every crime she committed, so if everyone will wait for Trump to get in office, the republicans can shoot for a fair trial and punish Hillary for everything she did. Obama would not be able to Pardon her, wasting all that taxpayer money.

Looks reasonable to me. We just have to be patient. Anyone who votes for Hillary knowing what the FBI findings are is completely Brain Dead. She has no business running our country.

  • sui, I've been waiting for someone else to start the blog but I guess I will have to do so. Since you posted here, I will transfer the comments to a post about Hillary so you don't have to do it again.

Well, I just paid $1.00 in quarters for Sundays Newspaper. Last Sunday that is! I had to go next to the Bell Buckle Cafe to a newspaper machine to get a copy of the Times Gazette newspaper for Sunday July 10. Since the sidewalk in front of the Cafe isn't lite up very well, you (meaning me, I)can't read the date on the front page until I've paid my dues to the sucker's machine.

Now I have to go all the way into Shevel as the farmers put it just to get the real news to read, or wait until the store opens tomorrow. Second time that has happened to me. You'd think I would learn.

I just read an article that said, Hamza bin Laden threatens revenge against the U.S. for assassinating his father. He says al-Qaida will continue waging jihad, or holy war, against the U.S. in response to its "oppression" of Muslims. "If you think that your sinful crime that you committed in Abbottabad has passed without punishment, then you thought wrong," he says.

Of course, Obama won't declare war with Osama's son because Obama doesn't know what a Radical Jihadist is and it won't look good on him after getting his Nobel Peace Prize.

But rest assured, the killings will keep on coming until we get a leader in office and I don't mean Hillary Clinton. We need a man who will use his "Man Card".
