They will always look at you a bit more suspiciously after today. They sure have grown.

  • That's why I had Deb bring them in. They'll blame her. :-)

  • Steve, are you having any luck with the GoFundMe account? BTW, what is the name?

  • No luck but when I realized I had to broadcast it to my facebook contacts, I froze. I did not want to blatantly promote it that way.

Not sure I should do it here either but if you want to contact me offline, I will share it.

  • Yeesh! Looked at that last post done on my cell phone. Falls apart here and there, but I guess you folks get the idea.

  • Finishing up a new "cat house" tomorrow. Will paint it another day but it has two windows, 4 entrances ( just big enough for them ), at least 8 separate, carpeted bed areas (probably will get more and some climbing trees.

The frame came from that shipping crate our daughter salvaged for us several months ago. The crate stands about 6 feet tall and the shingled roof is 8' by 8', That allows for an 18"+- overhang all around so they can be outside on rainy days (when it rains again).

The only thing bought was two packs of shingles. All the rest was salvaged or left over from other projects. Besides a lightbulb to keep their water thawed, I am going to lean a sliding glass door on the South and West sides to make a solar collector, wind stop and protected lounging area for the winter. I'll shade them in the summer.

I've entertained the idea of insulating but they will tear it down if I don't cover it with more wood and I don't have enough salvage to do that yet. The original dog/cat house did not have it and they seemed to do fine. Those doors are bigger so I may bring another patio door down for them too. Been using a skid with opaque plastic. Time to improve.

Probably two litter boxes in each will keep me from finding surpises in the grass at feeding time..

When this newest house is finished, I will fence completely around the garage and two cat houses to give them a "safe space from coyotes and our dogs. If either get in they will have to dodge shots coming from me since the bedroom overlooks the yard.

  • Our "CaringForPaws" online store is picking up. Hope to have it defray at least half of our costs in caring for these guys. Product to sell is coming from both donations and perfectly good things left at the dump. We,be been giving this stuff away to locals in need but now we are in need as well so.....

Brought Little B in this past week.Hencould not see a thing with both eyes shut. Mom was watching him try to scrape leftovers off the plates but those eyes had to be clean and he needs antibiotics so we took him in. She understood. Two other siblings still running around.
