A Tip of the Hat to a great garden season.
The first meeting of Weed'em & Reap garden club will be taking place on St. Patrick's Day, March 17th at the UT Ag Extension office on Midland Road in Shelbyville. We will start the "official" meeting at 6:30 PM and if you have always wanted to attend, or know about what goes on, this will be the meeting you MUST NOT MISS.
Why? Because it is the meeting that will determine what all of our other meetings will be about for the rest of the year. If you really want to learn about or teach others about growing a hummingbird garden, vegetable, herb, aroma, handicap accessible, water, fruit, organic, (you name it) garden, then you HAVE to be there to declare your interest.
Never gardened before? No problem, we have plenty of folk ready and willing to share their experiences and knowledge. We have never put a number to it, but there are hundreds of hours of experience here, just aching to get out. Speaking of aching....., no, wrong post. :-)
We are not a formal bunch but we are ALL about hands-in-the-dirt gardening. We also like to have fun and socialize so each meeting will have a structured focus on a topic, but open up to researching the internet for new plants, old plants, new/old problems, YOU NAME IT!
What to bring? YOU and any garden buddies. We are family friendly so if you don't want to leave the kids home with a babysitter, no problem. Maybe we can get them into the fun. We used to drag our daughter to our organic group meetings and guess what, she now sends us pictures of her new garden, time lapsed video of her seeds, of her fish pond, of MANY things garden related. A "chip off the old block".
Got Friends coming into town? COME. Grandparents living with you? COME.
No more excuses, just COME!
