What are your first thoughts about what this picture is all about.
I am always fascinated by what the world looks like under the microscope, which is in essence macro photography. I ran across this picture while looking for information on vinyl records, so now you know. It is a stylus sitting in the groove of a record. The smaller shot is at 1,000 magnification but I do not know the other close-up setting.
Now that I see this, I can better understand how the stylus vibrates and transmits different sounds to the speakers. It is AMAZING and this is OLD technology.
When I sold electrical and electronic parts, supplies, and instruments, I knew what they did, but I could not even start to understand HOW it did it. I used to joke that while selling electrical insulation to manufacturers, all I knew about electricity was not to hold both ends of a love wire. Maybe I knew a little bit more, but not much.
It is an amazing world and macro photography really changes my perspective. My brother Joe used to come up with amazing shots of nature when view by itself often made me wonder what it really was. Same with this picture of a record getting its' groove on.
